Dragon Age: Origins Gameplay

I wonder how they are going to translate the mouse and keyboard handling to the pad. This game has a massive HUD and that looks like a lot of short cut buttons. I hope it won't suffer under bad ported controls.

Dirt 2 Debut Teaser

Ralley drivers live the lives of rockstars. Really? According to this teaser... yes!

Counter Strike - The Source of Evil

Today when I took my breakfast (casuals), I read our local newspaper. There was one article catching my interest. It was about so called "Killerspiele". Oh, how I hate that term but here in Germany it is a common word for all those evil computer and videogames that ruin lifes and make little children to bloodlusting murderers. The article was an interview with the "manager" of the local addiction guidance center and he said things like Counter Strike and World of Warcraft should be banned... I guess every one of you has a local idiot like him in his newspaper.
One thing I find very impressive is that Counter Strike is the root of all evil since the Littleton school shooting in 1999. Wow, this game is since 10 years the scapegoat to blame! That's remarkable. It's still easier to blame Counter Strike than to search for the real causes like an instable social environment. But I bet it will be the scapegoat for the next ten years to come... Counter Strike, I salute you.

The GTTV Episode You Shouldn't Miss

I just watched the latest GTTV episode. Geoff Keighly visits Bioware in Canada to check out Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins. Do I need to say more? Okay - Battlefield: Bad Company, Terminator Salvation and a new Ratchet and Clank game! Gogo!

Watch it by clicking here!

Riddick: Dark Athena Drones Music Video

It cost me the whole night to realize this video. It think Riddick: Dark Athena's drones make up for a perfect music video of Fear Factory's song Drones. I've been a fan of their music when I heard it the first time. Their so called cyber death metal naturally fits with a dark SciFi game like Riddick. So, there ya go - hope you will enjoy it. And by the way fuck YouTube they just banned it... I'm wondering when they will begin to censor blogspot.

God of War III Leaked GDC Footage

Yeah, that looks like it's still Kratos.

Prepare yourself for a suicide mission to save mankind. Travel the galaxy to assemble a team of soldiers and combat specialists, and launch an all-out assault on the heart of enemy territory.

AVGN: Atari Jaguar Part 2

The AVGN plays some of the games of the "Jag". Enjoy!

Tom Clancy's R.U.S.E.

After Endwar Tom Clancy and Ubisoft bring a new RTS. It's called R.U.S.E and plays in World War II. It shall feature a breathtaking zoom engine like you've never seen it before.
Let's just wait and see and perhaps this game won't suck. I'm not a fan of console RTS games anyway so the chance that I will play this are very small if they don't make up some good controls.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Trailer

Wow, that's bad ass, you'll be fighting the statue of liberty! Basically Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is the 360 version of Ninja Gaiden 2 PLUS some bonus content like being able to play as Ayane from Dead or Alive. So expect violence and bouncing breasts!

Funny: The Guild

Lately I watched the first season of The Guild.
It's a comedy show about the life of MMORPG players and their guild The Knights of The Good. All of them are different: Codex is a twen single woman that "doorstep'ed" by her guild member Zaboo, then there's Vork, a weirdo in his forties, Bladezz, a teenage troublemaker, Clara, a PC addict mommy to three children and Tink, the guild's ranger and sharp tongue.
The plot focuses on their weird real lifes, most times in front of the screen and some AFK time in the local restaurant Cheesy Boards. It's very funny if you have a love for weird MMO stories. You can watch The Guild via Xbox Live or via watchtheguild.com

Capcom Going Down The Wrong Road

The latest news about Capcom made me think. Is this company going down the wrong road? Think about it:

- The Street Fighter IV Title Music is an insult to gamers. Oh, and that alternative outfit cost money sucks as well. And the promised patch for tournament matches in Street Fighter IV? Delayed to god knows when.

- The Resident Evil 5 Multiplayer will cost you as well. PVP Multiplayer is a standard in games and no justification for DLC! Delayed as well by the way.

- Capcom makes their fans poor with letting them pay to see their GDC press conference. Wanna be a "Capcom Faithful" and see the interesting part of the press conference? Pay 4,99!

- And at last some breaking news: Capcom "hasn't decided yet" if they will do a Resident Evil 6 but if so it will take between 4 and 8(!) years.

Seriously, Capcom, STFU and grow some balls. Loyal fans have been the longest time loyal when you tread them like shit.

The Masters of The Puppets Speak

See what Metallica have to say about what they think of their game. Funny sidenotes as well! Have fun, Tallica fans!

OnLive Hardware Close Ups

Sleek Tawain PS3 Pad Copy I'd say! And the D Pad looks horrible. It still so no reason why a 360/PS3 owner should get something like this. Personally I prefer collecting my videogames. Not renting them... virtually. Well, however, I think just like Steam this could find it's customers.

Cry Engine 3

Cry Engine 2 was too powerful for PS360. The Cry Engine 3 looks even better (does it? I mean CE2 was beyond awesome) and now it will be able to run on the consoles. This is madness!

Onlive: Streaming Games

Onlive is a plug in for your browser or a little box for your TV and it lets you play all games "on demand" via stream. It sounds like Steam, only that it is completely running via stream. Even EA, TakeTwo and Epic support this new thing. Does this mean we will see Gears 2 as a browser game soon?
Check out this videos for further impressions.

Destin At The GH: Metallica Launch Event

Hope begins in the dark? Sounds cool, but makes no sense!

Need For Speed Shift Debut Trailer

Levine's Next Game Brings Smile To Old School Fans

Ken Levine
talked to Gamespot about his latest project. Here are a few interesting quotes that hint at a game "that brings a smile to old school fans"... System Shock 3?
"2K Boston is focused on our next project, which will probably come as a huge surprise to our audience and yet at the same time will make total sense once they see it. I will say that we're clicking on all cylinders,"

"Besides delivering on the narrative experience we're known for, it will include a type of gameplay that is completely new to us - something the BioShock team has never really explored in depth before. In all areas (art, design, and programming), we spend half our day being totally psyched, and half our day wondering what we've gotten ourselves into. We're kind of humbled by the challenge.

"In the end, our new project is something we're champing at the bit to talk about," he said. "But we're not showing it to anybody and won't be for some time. In fact, the only way to get a look at it is to interview for a job with us."

"Something that will bring a small smile to old-school fans of the company," he explained. "Not a product announcement, but something they'll dig. I don't want to over-promise here, but we're psyched to roll it out."

Max Payne 3 This Year

Wow, how long have we waited for this news? Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne was released back in 2003 and today Rockstar Boss Sam Houser announced Max Payne 3 to be released in late 2009 on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
"We're starting a new chapter of Max's life with this game." He continued: "This is Max as we've never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation."

Sounds good. I played Max Payne 1 and 2 and liked it for it's dark atmosphere and the one man against the world plot. Hell, I even managed to finish Max Payne 2 in one night. So let's hope Max Payne 3 can link to the quality of it's predecessors and won't be delayed.

Metallica Digitalized

Metallica are doing their part for making this game authentic!

Which Game May 2009

The april is nearing it's end and I am thinking about what to play next month. I still play The Ultimate Sega Mega Drive Collection and Street Fighter IV from time to time for the multiplayer. Somehow I'm still sticked more to HD Remix. Resident Evil 5 is through and it was a great experience and it still has the mercenaries mode for me to offer. Fallout 3 is through after 55 hours, but I will return into the wastelands once all of the DLC is out and the level cap is raised to thirty. There are still a few undone quests and unvisited locations left which I'll love to explore once grinding experience is possibly again!

But I am still thinking about which game to get next. The decision is between Fable 2, which I absolutely wanna play (and it's cheap as well), the GTA IV DLC The Lost And The Damned (I loved GTA IV) and The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena which is from Starbreeze that made the excellent The Darkness. Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna play all of them, right now it's only a matter of sequence. Which game of those will I play in may? And because it's always important for me what my readers think I will start a poll. Also feel free to write a comment or post a tip in the chatbox down on the left! Perhaps your vote is what makes the decision! Perhaps not, haha!
Game On!

Resident Evil 5 Blood Drive Report

Back when Resident Evil 5 launched Capcom encouraged gamers to spend blood and as thanks giving them exclusive gimmicks. And this is how it were:

Wii Fit Outsells Halo 3

Hell No!!! The Casuals have triumphed!

Bigger Than Bioshock?

2K Boston, the team formerly known as Irrational Games that gave us the grand Bioshock, is searching for new programmers on GDC. They are calling their new game "their biggest and most ambitious project yet." Well, nothing is known until now, but with Ken Levine behind it I'll watch this game very closely.

16Bit Console Wars

Back in those days in the early 90s I started gaming. I've been on the Sega Mega Drive side and even without the internet we had fanboy flame wars. Like "Oh, my Super Nintendo is so cool and your Mega Drive sucks!" I answered "Yeah and why didn't Nintendo develop the first CD based console if it is so great? Huh, Sega did that, you fucker!" After all Sega Mega Drive was when Sonic was cool. IGN has a great article from which I will quote a few passages.

The struggle for domination between the SEGA Genesis and the Super Nintendo is doubtlessly the most knock-down fight for supremacy in the history of gaming. Playgrounds were bitterly divided over which system was the best. The Sonic crowd and the Mario loyalists often came to blows, cracking skulls when the coolness of a beloved mascot was questioned.

Actually, there were no cracked skulls. But exaggeration is the hallmark of good storytelling, you know.
[...]
But the most obvious factor in the performance of the Genesis is the appearance of Sonic the Hedgehog in 1991, which really gave SEGA a much-needed face. The Genesis had a real mascot that was synonymous with the company, just like Mario. The first Sonic game sold over four million units. The 1992 sequel outpaced it with six million units.
[...]
By 1994, SEGA had lost substantial ground to Nintendo in America. The two had been fairly close going into 1992, with Nintendo making strong gains against SEGA, thanks in no small part to the fact that every Super NES came with a copy of the acclaimed Super Mario World. According to market data, SEGA had a 55-percent share. But when SEGA started fracturing its audience with add-ons like the SEGA CD and 32X and Nintendo kept on producing triple-A games for its loyal fans, the battle was won. Nintendo pushed ahead of SEGA, which spent all of its 16-bit good will on the ill-fated Saturn.

Portable Sega Dreamcast

Wait, unlike the Playstation there's never been a portable of the Dreamcast. Until now! All you need to do is build it yourself:

New Wolfenstein Trailer

Yeah, killing ocult Nazi criminals never looked so much fun in a game! This is the only World War II game I care about. But I think this certainly won't be released in Germany unedited. Swastikas in videogames are forbidden here. Good that there's the internet that gives me the opportunity to stand up against censorship and play unedited versions.

Riddick Gone Gold And Butcher Bay Trailer

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena has now officialy gone gold. The game will be released in late april and just looks incredible. Have a look at this Escape from Butcher Bay HD trailer. Two great games in one package. I think I won't be able to resist!

Ghostbusters The Game: Alyssa Milano

This game looks as fun as the old movies. And Alyssa Milano, an actress from Charmed, plays a role as well. Wait, where's Sigourney Weaver? So you got beautiful women, the humor of the movies and lots of ghosts. Sounds good, right?
The age gap wouldn't fit in real life, but in videogames that doesn't count.
