What I've Played This Weekend

Weekend's done and when I've not been working for my studies I had the pleasure to play my 360. And here's what I played:

Fallout 3 Mothership Zeta

Oh, it came as I feared. After the great fourth DLC Point Lookout the last DLC Mothership Zeta had to surpass that. Or be on the same high level. And Point Lookout had all that made Fallout 3 so good in a nutshell: A big surrounding, many characters and a brilliant main quest along with some fine sidequests. To make it short: Point Lookout raised the bar very high for everything that's left to come.
Mothership Zeta, however, has it's moments. You'll meet 5 interesting characters on your escape through the ship. People, that've been kidnapped by the aliens. From different periods of time. A cowboy from the Wild West, a samurai from medieval Japan, a medic from the Anchorage War, a Wastelander from 2277 and a little girl that saw the bombs of the Fallout fall. Their dialogues were pretty cool and original. Entertaining was a rush through the ship's deposit deck. Reminded me of Star Wars. And not to forget the end boss battle. But I won't spoil this.
The DLC took me about 6 to 7 hours to play through, I guess. Most of this time was filled with running through sterile tunnels, sadly. I've read many rants about Operation Anchorage, that it would be too linear. Well, better don't play Mothership Zeta is the definition of linear. It's a corridor shooter like Doom. Hell, shouldn't it be a Role Playing Game? With choices? And a big open world to explore? Yes, it should, but it didn't. I am disappointed by Mothership Zeta and that's all. If you have to choose, get Point Lookout.

Gears of War 2

I still didn't finish the campaign on the highest difficulty. Was it hardcore? Insane, I think. Well, with the help of my brother I've defeated the giant worm already and fought through the mansion. I nearly forgot how much fun Gears of War is. And the graphics are still so good. It's the perfect action game. Just the hard trying of Epic to include a serious story in the game makes me laugh. Gears will forever have Schwarzenegger-like story telling. And the game doesn't need more to be awesome.

Far Cry 2

Remember that I got this game for a fair price a few weeks ago? I haven't found enough time for it, but I managed to play the first hour of the campaign already and I have the feeling that it is a great first person action game. As far as I've read people's comments on boards around the world, this game polarises. I hope I'll be on the pro side.

Batman: Arkham Asylum Demo

Usually I find myself downloading demos and never playing them, but with Batman I wanted to know what's up! And it didn't disappoint. In the length of half an hour the demo instantly made me a fan of the game. Gameplay (!), graphics, storytelling - everything fits perfectly. You won't get closer to becoming the Dark Knight.
