What I'm Playing This Weekend

Ok, nothing's happening in videogaming today? Well, sundays are always boring in terms of gaming news and the best thing is that because of time shift here in Europe we get news starting from monday evening. That is because still most gaming sites are North American based and it seems like they are the first to get infos. Anyway, I'll use this bumper to write a few sentences about what I've been playing this weekend. Or the last two weeks, to be more exactly. That is:

Brütal Legend

Heavy Metal! I've already finished the main story line. So, time for a conclusion! The campaign itself is short, but very entertaining. Brütal Legend really is a game like no other. And that is not because of the gameplay mechanics, but more because of the funny heavy metal universe Tim Schafer created. As a metal fan, you'll love this game. The good thing is that this game doesn't take itself too serious. I mean, the game has so many interpretations of the whole genre of metal: The landscape itselfalways looks like the cover of a metal album and you'll meet characters that are metal inspired like the metal beasts that remind me somehow of Kiss or armies of goth/emos to slay. Not to speak of the use of prominent metal artists in the game.
Besides the campaign there are still some side missions to do and objects to find into the world. The game is short, but good. But I wish there'd have been some more gamerscore for just playing through. (Were close to 300 for me and that is not much.)

Assassin's Creed II

I just started with this game, so I really can't say too much about, not even talking about a conclusion. But one thing I can say is that is seems to have improved on every weak point of the first. The weird storyline is still weird, but after playing the first you now expected it to be weird, which is a good thing. And Ezio, Altairs replacement, can swim. And that makes sense, because even in the first city, Florence, I escaped the civil guard by jumping into the river. I really like this game, I nearly forgot how awesome it is to climb on high buildings and then taking the leap of faith, crushing into a wagon of hay and walking out as if it were the normalest thing on earth. Plus the characters in the Italian renaissance are memerable. I just met Leo Da Vinci and he seems to be a great character.
Only thing that worries me is that tommorrow I'll get Darksiders and with few time it is a bit complicated to play two great games.

Street Fighter IV

Lately I've teached my younger brother and sister about the art of Street Fighter. I finally took myself the time to play all of the hidden characters free (except Seth, but that will happen some day as well). That means there are now matches like Dan versus Akuma or Sakura vs Fei Long or Gouken versus Cammy possible. I really like to play as Gouken, but he is difficult to play and I online I yet get asskicked. I must train harder, as those Ryus always say.
