German Interior Ministers Want To Ban 'Killergames' Again

On Friday the conference of German interior ministers decided to create a law that forbids the development and distribution of so called 'killergames'. This is a consequence of the recent school shooting in Winnenden, Germany. But the question is: As what are so called 'killergames' defined? The conference of the interior ministers came to the conclusion that 'killergames' are games in which killing people looks realistically. Like in GTA IV when you blow up pedestrians with rocket launchers. They say it will damage the mind of adolescents but there are no scientific studies that prove this.
A few weeks ago even Paintball/Gotcha was banned in Germany for the same reasons. This the work of the conservative party of CDU and it's infamous Stasi 2.0 national interior minister Schäuble. The thing is that the vote for the European Parliament is standing right in front of the door and later this year the vote for the councellor is taking place. The conservative CDU is starting a campaign against 'killergames' (I hate that term, it's idiotic) to look good for people that absolutely have no clue of the topic. The science is not clear if playing brutal games leads to aggression and violence but speaking as a gamer and educational scientist I think that playing ego shooter games is not the lone cause of violence. Much more it's the socialisation in the family and the position in school or peer group. But I guess anyone who reads Personal Gaming came to familiar conclusions.
And after all this won't lead to adolescents not playing any more games. Therefore they'd need to ban the internet. And close the borders.
